About DrawDuel.io
A ranked drawing game for two, and the reasons it turned out this way.
What it is
You and one other person get the same prompt and ninety seconds. You both draw it. Judge Bob picks the better attempt, your rating moves, and you queue straight back up. The whole loop is about two minutes in a browser tab, with nothing to download.
It is built for people who cannot draw and will throw down anyway. The fun is not in being good at this. It is in racing the clock, watching what your rival commits to, and finding out whose wonky cat Judge Bob believed in.
Why I made it
Most drawing games online are a big lobby: you wait for a turn, then guess at what somebody else is scribbling. I wanted the opposite. One opponent, one prompt, a real result, and a reason to play the next round.
The ladder is the part I cared about most, because a round is more fun when it counts. Every duel moves your rating and the leaderboard is real. Starting at the bottom and clawing your way up is not a chore on the way to the game; it is the game.
Free to play
DrawDuel.io is free, there is nothing to buy, and no ads run on it today. That will not last forever, and when it changes it will be some ads and some cosmetics.
What it will never be is a way to win. You cannot buy a better score or a higher rank, because the moment you could, the ladder would be worthless and so would the game attached to it.
Who’s behind it
One person. I build the game, draw the art, write these words, and answer the messages. There is no team, no office, and no publisher, which is why everything here is drawn in the same wobbly pen, including the bits nobody looks at.
You will see a company name on the terms and privacy pages, 5Head Labs Pty Ltd. That is the same one person, wearing the hat you have to wear to take a payment and pay tax properly. It is not a studio.
Being one person shows, and I would rather say so than have you find out. Bugs live longer than they should. The lobby is quiet at odd hours, because a new game with real opponents is quiet before it is busy. A reply might take a day.
What you get in return is that there is nobody to escalate to, because you are already talking to the person who can change it. Got a bug, a prompt idea, or just want to tell me your cat won and Judge Bob was wrong? Say so on our Discord at https://discord.gg/BcbP9aSz7M and I will read it myself.
